NASH ( Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver )
This important research may help to expand our understanding and clinical knowledge about NASH and liver fibrosis.
Non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) is described as a more severe form of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease. In NASH, inflammation and cell damage are present, with or without liver fibrosis.
Many people have a build-up of fat in the liver and it does not cause any symptoms for most, which is why NASH is known as a silent but progressive disease.
The risk factors associated with NASH include, but are not limited to:
· Being older (the risk increases with age)
· Having Type 2 diabetes
· Being overweight or obese
· Having high triglycerides
